SMRI will make it possible to envision the following:
Ø A mute child’s symptoms are recognized and the child is diagnosed very YOUNG.
Ø Treating professionals know how to assess and evaluate a ‘silent child’ and then develop an appropriate treatment plan based on the child’s unique characteristics.
Ø Schools know how to effectively accommodate and provide interventions to children and teens affected with Selective Mutism
SMRI’s vision is to understand how to evaluate, treat and develop appropriate school-based accommodations/interventions for those affected by SM which will ultimately improve the lives of children suffering in silence to allow them to be a confident social and verbal communciator!
